"Homemade Fun"

Recently Ms. Smith a "scientist" from the High Touch, High Tech organization visited our classroom to present a life science program called "HOMEMADE FUN". The program focused on the importance of shelters. Children agreed that shelters are necessary for both people and animals. As Ms. Smith described various types of shelters the students learned "how living organisms modify their physical environment to suit their needs". With Ms. Smith's guidance, students constructed igloos, bird nests and beehives using common food elements. The results were both fun and delicious!

Igloos were made with marshmallow
"bricks" and icing "paste".

Bird nests were built with Chinese noodles,
chocolate sauce and jelly bean "eggs".
