Celebrating: Read Across America
and Dr. Seuss

Willard School celebrated Read Across America and Dr. Seuss' birthday on Friday, February 29, 2008. Students were invited to wear striped clothes and bring their slippers in honor of Dr. Seuss. As we prepared for independent reading time, students changed into their slippers and gathered around to listen to our favorite Dr. Seuss stories. Following the read-aloud everyone returned to their seats to read independently. Wearing slippers put everyone into the mood to settle in with a good book.

The following Tuesday our assistant principal Mrs. Derick stopped by to read us one of the new Dr. Seuss books donated to our school library through the generosity of the Willard PTO.

"Oh, the places you'll go"---with a good book in tow.
"And will you succeed? Yes! You will, indeed!"
