Author Study

To help students make meaningful connections to the stories they read, our class will concentrate on a few special authors throughout the year. We will read several of their books, learn how they got their ideas and find out what inspired them to become authors. Each study will allow opportunities to compare themes, characters and situations. As we read and listen to the stories, we will ask ourselves "Does this remind us of someone we know or of something that happened to us?" Connecting to stories in a personal way guides students to a deeper level of reading comprehension.

We will share some of our written responses below.
